We've all been challenged during this pandemic. I've turned to working my craft in new and very different ways! Check out a film I was involved with; not only filmed IN QUARANTINE, but this was also part of the International 48HR Film Competition. We won the Seattle round but lost out to LA in the West Coast round. Our sweet little film has gone on to screen in numerous online festivals, and has received some amazing awards!!

I had the enormous opportunity to collaborate with some filmmakers and co-write a film, once again filmed IN QUARANTINE! It was an incredible experience and I learned so much.

Excited to be playing a dancer in the upcoming film
by Kit Wilson, Jagged Nails
by Kit Wilson, Jagged Nails
Our dance routine is being choreographed by the Broadway veteran dancer, Mr. Jerry; the routine is inspired by The Rockettes!! I studied ballet as an adult but haven't been to a class in several years, and this is the first time that I've brought my dancing to the screen. It's a scary yet exciting challenge for me!

Interview: Powerless and film acting
Listen to this in-depth interview on my upcoming role in "Powerless" and acting in film.
POWERLESS
I was cast in the feature film, "Powerless", as Amy Dupree, the central character. One of my most challenging roles to date, I'll be playing a deputy sheriff who is a high functioning alcoholic.
Big Trouble in Seattle
Loved playing a news anchor in this feature film! This mob thriller is still in post production, but already has a distribution deal.
Us+
Getting to do some comedy to break up all of the gritty, emotional roles I usually play! Had a blast shooting the pilot for "US+".
I came full circle in my career playing Rhoda in the dark comedy, "Lily". The first role I worked on was in pre-school, helping my dad rehearse for a play that he was acting in called "The Bad Seed"; I played Rhoda, the sadistic killer!
Haunted Wharf: Ethel and the Merman
Haunted Wharf: Ethel and the Merman was selected to screen at STIFF, and I got to represent the film in the Q&A panel at the festival.

Booked my first national voiceover commercial this year!
Lots of great voiceover opportunities, including ADR for a sci-fi film, pictured here.

A film that I put a lot of heart and soul into is available to watch online.
The Last Light closes in on a mother's shattered heart while she desperately tries to put the pieces back together.

Was lucky enough to get to be in a NFFTY 48HR film! In true 48HR style, it was a whirlwind:
- Friday, 1030pm: get home from work, see a fb msg from a friend looking for a friend of a friend for a "Mom" type.
- 1044pm: Not knowing for sure what the project even was, I decide that it will be fun to jump on set in the morning! I send a text..
- 138am: I get a text from one of the young filmmakers welcoming me aboard! I get a few wardrobe instructions..
- Saturday, 930am: calltime! We go over the script, I do my hair and makeup, get the ok on my wardrobe, and..
- 1030am: we start filming!!!
- 415pm: that's a wrap for me!
See the film here: Thar She Blows!
While on set of Breeding Grounds I was interviewed between shots.

Breeding Grounds filming is complete!
In January I was cast as one of the leads in the futuristic, post World War III film, Breeding Grounds. Portraying Ellen tapped into two of my strengths: playing women who are powerful and commanding, and at once exposed and vulnerable. This role pushed me to my limits playing an ex-marine who is strong and brash, but who comes undone and shows her deepest fragility.
Working on this film during preparation and rehearsal and on set has caused me to grow so much as an actor and learn to trust myself and my instincts even further.
Check out BTS photos from set and rehearsal here!

New role in Development:
Casting Assistant!

Spring of 2014 has brought about
the opportunity to assist Nike Imoru,
Casting Director of the upcoming series
Z NATION. This SyFy Network series is now filming in Spokane, WA and set to air Fall of 2014.
Not only has assisting on auditions cultivated transformative growth in my craft, it also been personally rewarding to contribute to such an important milestone for the film / TV industry
in WA state. Go WA cast & crew!
Desert Cathedral to screen at SIFF!
I got to do some fun and challenging character work in Desert Cathedral. I played a crack whore
that the central character (played by Lee Tergesen: MONSTER; OZ; WAYNE'S WORLD)
encounters during his voyage through the desert.

Began Freehold Theatre's Voiceover class
with Gin Hammond
First night of class we listened
to each other read copy with our eyes closed, then shouted out the images and characteristics that came to life as we heard each other's voices. I got some pretty great descriptions for my voice, but by far my favorite is the BICHON FRISE! Who wouldn't want to voice an adorable little puppy?! |
I got cast in one of those roles; the kind that pushes an actor beyond their limits and taps into something quite profound. There are no words.. Check out the actor profile and teaser below

I'm thrilled to be cast in my first web-series!
Playing Beth, one of the leads in Tom Skerritt's STROLLER GANGS;
a super fun Web Series that takes place here in Seattle. A group of Women who are friends going through the ins and outs of being a mom in modern day.
Sex and the City meets Desperate Housewives.
This has been the year of the voice!
It all started with a Linklater voice intensive with Judith Shahn & Kimberly White last summer. I now find myself in Freehold's Singing for Actors class with Lucia Neare, in preparation for my upcoming portrayal of Agnes in Agnes of God. -Agnes of God has been chosen to take part in Freehold Theatre's INCUBATOR Studio Series! Theatre Verity will be performing an excerpt from the play March 28th & 30th. Listen to an ADR clip of the ALIEN film where I got to play Ripley!--------> |

{{I am so ready for this!!}}
it seems so fitting that my commercial has been airing on channel 4, since
that's where i got my start! my dad was "the voice of KOMO" (booth announcer)
years ago and as a "KOMO kid" i got to shoot some psa's for the station.
i immediately felt at home in the studio, and got a kick out of turning on the t.v.
to see myself wishing everyone "Happy Holidays".
Rumor has it..
These past few months have been busy!
*Shot a commercial which will begin airing on local networks in May/June 2012.
*What Light accepted into ReelHeART International Film Festival.
*Desert Cathedral to screen at the Champs Elysees Film Festival in Paris.
*The short film Snorkel screened at STIFF.
*The MarQueen held a private screening at Seattle Cinerama.
*Performed in TheFilmSchool's staged reading of DODGERS at ACT.
{Also there have been plenty of auditions; for one of which I spent the day roaming a cemetery, preparing to embody a peasant woman searching for her son in a bloody battlefield.}

FALL 2011:
Cast in the SAG ultra low budget feature Desert Cathedral, shooting in November. I'm stoked that i get to play such a fun character role! I'll be playing 'Sandy', a whore trimmed in 80's garb. There's something really liberating about embodying a character that isn't so pretty. Just a regular old person, pure and simple.
{{I cannot wait for my costume fitting tonight! I hear there's a jumpsuit in mind ;O}}

I've spent the past month or so working on character development for the upcoming 30-min short,
The MarQueen
The film explores the tale of Cupid & Psyche with themes of jealousy, fear, lust and rage, placed in a modern-day brothel. I play a whore who is fighting to maintain her position of power as new girls keep cropping in.
{{I've been waiting for the chance to play a character that I can really sink my teeth into!}}

STINGS LIKE ACID premiering Nov 12-27

In the summer of 2009 we ladies of New Amerikan Theatre decided to write a play together about such
things as:
Quantum Physics, isolation and inter-dependence
using movement / dance, soundscape and mythology.
3 weeks before opening and I think we've managed to stay pretty true to our original intentions...we'll see how it unfurls!

love, violence & loneliness

love, violence & loneliness (working title) is taking shape! I've found myself drawing upon the story of Eurydice, as her plight resonates down to my core.
It seems that the stories/roles that frighten me the most are
the ones that most need to be expressed through me.
No one said that fear doesn't exist within courage;
in fact, I believe it is the FEAR that carves out the demand for
COURAGE.
